The 1950 UFO Armada of Farmington, NM

For three days in March of 1950, the residents of a small town in New Mexico were treated to one of the most dramatic displays in ufo history. From approximately 11 am to noon on March 15, 16, and 17, the townspeople of Farmington, NM watched aghast as an armada of 200 – 400 silver disc shaped ufos flew over the town in precision formation, all the while performing astounding maneuvers which astounded bystanders.
Local newspapers reported on the story, remarking that the residents could hardly believe their eyes. However, not much was made of the fact that only a few miles away from the quiet and unassuming Farmington sat the imposing Kirtland Air Force Base and its partner in crime, the rather ominous Sandia proving grounds, the whole area a hothouse for the development of airborne nuclear weaponry. Sites associated with nuclear technology are notorious for drawing ufo observers. For what purpose the visitors come is of course open to interpretation. Perhaps astrology can help.
Here is a chart for the event, represented by the middle of the hour-long ufo performance on the middle day of the three day event. The chart is therefore cast for March 16, 1950, 11:30 am, Farmington, NM.
This chart shows that the whole event occurred while two obvious aspects were in effect. First, Mercury in visionary Pisces opposed Saturn in exacting Virgo. Second, Mars (conspicuously in retrograde motion) was closing in on an exact conjunction to the lunar south node. Both of these aspects were close to exactitude, the Mercury-Saturn opposition more so, with Mercury at 13 Pisces and Saturn at 15 Virgo. Mars at 5 Libra was only 3 degrees away from conjunction to the mean lunar south node at 8 degrees of Libra. These relatively tight aspects are likely the powers that set up the conditions for ufo manifestation.
However, there was yet another factor which surely played into the creation of this extraordinary three-day event. Right in the middle of each day’s one hour ufo skyshow, Uranus would emerge precisely on the eastern horizon. Uranus conjunct the Ascendant was thus in effect during the core portion of the hour long ufo manifestation.
What do each of these astrological conditions reveal in regard to the intentions and purposes of the visitors?
1. Mercury opposite Saturn suggests that a serious tone overlies the whole event. A warning or admonishment, certainly the territory of Saturn, is thus likely. Saturn is the voice of caution in the pantheon of astrological archetypes, aptly symbolized by the image of Father Time or the Wise Old Man of the Ninth Tarot card. Wisdom cautions the impulsive and rash to slow down and give thought to the consequences of emotional tantrums and retaliatory sentiments. “No,” says the Wise Old Man, “don’t take that path. You will live to regret it.”
2. Mars in retrograde motion hints similarly. As the God of War driven by adrenaline rushes and thirst for revenge, Mars makes trouble quite naturally. The retrograde condition suggests the act of turning back, holding back, keeping oneself in check, thwarting the primitive impulses which lead to armed aggression.
3. Mars conjunct the lunar south node indicates the act of letting go or of dissolution, the natural territory of the lunar south node.
4. Uranus conjunct the Ascendant adds a note of urgency. The awakener, Uranus was discovered when the Industrial Age was in its infancy and electricity had just been seriously considered a force for man to control. Uranus thus rules all versions of technological advances. The position of Uranus on the Ascendant shows that at question is the nature of modern technology itself. Further, Uranus symbolizes the unusual, the eccentric, and the anomalous. Here indeed was an anomalous event occurring right when the planet which astrologically signifies such things was prominently positioned at the eastern horizon. Above all, Uranus stands for accelerated evolution. Its role here seems to suggest that humanity might do well to consider its higher purposes.
Just what the UFO Armada of March 1950 had in mind remains, of course, a mystery. Yet, the astrological components underpinning the time of the event speaks eloquently enough for those who care to read the signs. They say, “Slow down, think again, control yourself, let go of disgruntlement, and above all, carefully examine your uses of modern technology.”
It would appear the ufo presence takes astrological indications into consideration, for in this incident, the arrangement of the solar system at the time of a key ufo event was entirely consistent with a message which could logically be expected from civilizations in advance of our own.
It has long been held that the cosmic mind speaks through signs in the sky. The UFO Armada of March 1950 with its squadrons of synchronized and interweaving ufos would surely qualify as such.
