The World Upside Down

In the short interval since Pluto entered Aquarius in November 2024, the world has quite nearly turned upside down. Political alignments and funding arrangements previously considered inviolate have buckled and crumbled as the new American presidential administration has taken the lead to restructure much of international economic functioning.

Electric and eccentric Aquarius operates exactly like that. It shakes up the status quo and brings in entirely novel ideas.

Under American President Trump, that’s the order of the day. The US itself is undergoing a downright shocking transformation entirely in keeping with the implications of Pluto in Aquarius. Trump himself is highly attuned to the Aquarian vibration, for his chart shows terrific influence from revolutionary Uranus, ruler of Aquarius. Trump’s natal Sun at 23 degrees of Gemini is conjunct Uranus at 18 degrees of Gemini. This Sun-Uranus conjunction makes Trump a Uranian who immediately understands and adopts the Aquarian impression.

Now, the way in which Trump thus operates may displease many, but there is no question the man comes by his role as a change agent quite naturally, for not only is his Sun conjunct Uranus, but also is that Sun-Uranus conjunction elevated, high in the 10^th house of Trump’s natal chart. He can do no other than to take a bold and dramatic lead for the values he sees as linked to the emerging future. That is the territory of Aquarius and its ruler, Uranus.

Upheaval in The Money Zone

The primary zone in which the Aquarian impulse is working out in the US is that of the national economy. It is inevitably so because Uranus, ruler of Aquarius and agent of upheaval, is now in the money sign of Taurus. In the US and around the world, the simultaneous hit of Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus is causing a seismic eruption in the funding zone. The all-of-government audit undertaken by the Trump Administration’s Department of Government Efficiency is a prime example. Such a comprehensive analysis of spending had never been undertaken before in the US. At the helm of DOGE is Trump’s fellow Uranian, Elon Musk, who has Sun square Uranus and Mars in Aquarius in his own natal chart. The DOGE effort is thus strongly conditioned by the energies of Uranus and Aquarius, both of which influences have to do with the circulation of information and ideas to the public.

With the DOGE audit of US agencies are pouring out breathtaking revelations. American tax dollars, the population is finding out, have been strangled out of US household incomes and then shamelessly dumped by the millions and billions into inhumane scientific and questionable social experiments, and, what is more, often devoted to the private and personal use of figureheads at the tops of so-called non-governmental organizations.

Taking this in is a dizzying enterprise, many have found. As agencies are downsized and career bureaucrats are fired by the droves, fear has grown in the American public, helped along by dire media accounts of the changes coming down the pike. Many wonder if the American economy will collapse. Astrology says not, for signs are on the horizon that extraordinary opportunities are close at hand.

The March 2025 Time Pocket

But first, the month of March must be navigated, not an altogether simple matter. Why so? Because the entirety of March 2025 is affected by retrograde Mercury, and this time it’s a retrograde Mercury not just its usual trickster self, but a retrograde Mercury made even more obscure while conjunct nebulous and often disorienting Neptune.

Indeed, the retrograde period of Mercury in early 2025 poses a philosophical problem all on its own. It concerns the much more comprehensive matter of Neptune’s transit through Pisces 2011 – 2025. In March 2025, Mercury and Neptune converge to dramatize the nature of this 14 year period with Neptune in Pisces. That’s quite a load of understanding to integrate as the collective mind views the choices and beliefs which have driven the last 14 years in the areas of spiritual faith, belief, complicity, willingness to accept information on blind trust, and the whole issue of dependency.

Further, during the month of March 2025, the convergence of Mercury and Neptune takes place in the final degree of Pisces, significantly amplifying the theme of endings, disintegrations, and conditions which are unstable or in process of passing out of existence. This happens throughout the month, for Mercury conjuncts Neptune at 29 degrees of Pisces twice in March 2025. First, in direct zodiacal motion, Mercury made the conjunction to Neptune on March 2. Then, in retrograde motion, Mercury will conjunct Neptune at 29 degrees of Pisces on March 29. The entire month of March 2025 is therefore largely conditioned and colored by the conjunction of Mercury and Neptune in the final degree of Pisces. This is to say much. It means the psychic environment of the collective is inevitably aware of and sensing the end of an era.

This is quite enough to invite trepidation, but the matter is complicated by the fact Mercury is not only conjunct Neptune, but also retrograde during part of this period. The effect is widely distributed throughout the month for the following reasons.

On March 1, Mercury enters the degrees of the zodiac which will be affected by the upcoming period of retrogradation. Then, on March 15, Mercury turns retrograde. Mercury remains retrograde for about three weeks, turning direct in zodiacal motion on April 7. Not until April 26 does Mercury then pass beyond the degrees of the zodiac affected by retrogradation.

All in all, the entire period of March 1 – April 26 contains the retrograde Mercury effect. The retrograde effect is strongest when Mercury is formally retrograde in zodiacal motion March 15 – April 7, but a milder effect is in place March 1 – 15 and then again April 7 – 26. The bottom line is that all of March and almost all of April are affected by retrograde Mercury.

For March, this means that many plans and projections are certain to be re-evaluated. Changes of mind and alterations of approach always develop under retrograde Mercury. It’s natural for people and situations to go through a molting phase during retrograde Mercury, as prior policies and positions are reconsidered. Though frequently the cause of much disruption, retrograde Mercury periods are processes of nature, providing times when the energy of the human psyche turns within to do inner work. The result on the outer level is often that of doubt, delay, and disruption.

In March of 2025, the deep spiritual and psychological effects will be enhanced when retrograde Mercury conjuncts both Neptune and the transiting lunar north node in late Pisces during late March through early April. This period is sure to include episodes of extreme emotional intensity driven by the obvious signs that the end of an era has come. Staying grounded may be a tall order during this period, for Neptune is the planet of dreams and imagination. Discriminating between hopes and actuality may be a challenge. The tendency for many will be to go off the deep end with fears and negative expectations. Evaluations based on facts and not on extremes of emotion will help.

Keeping Right Side Up

Handling the retrograde Mercury period of March 2025 well is critical, for waiting in the wings are key astrological developments sure to offer significant opportunity for everyone. These astrological developments unfold throughout the next few years, beginning with the temporary departure of Neptune from Pisces on March 30 and the Saturn-Uranus sextile of early April 2025. Both will assist in the effort to rebuild and prosper, especially aiding entrepreneurs and independent thinkers. Then, Saturn will enters Aries in late May, further emphasizing the quality of personal initiative, motivation, resilience, rebelliousness, and spunk.

The clear indication is that a palpable shift in the psychic atmosphere is just about to occur, moving attention from the issues of sorrow-burdened Pisces to those of survival-driven Aries. Here is a key inflection point in the flow of time. Pisces connotes collapse and dissolution; Aries connotes rebirth. The contrast between the two is dramatic. March 2025 finds us pendant between the two – neither quite done with the misery of Pisces yet, nor able to fully leap for the can-do spirit of the Ram quite yet either.

As is evident, March 2025 is filled with Piscean and Neptunian activations not at all like the Aries activations soon to come. Still, March 2025 contains the approach to a discernible shift. Throughout March, with Mercury in Pisces conjunct the ruler of Pisces in the final degrees of Pisces, an emphasis on large organizations previously operating in secrecy as they now gasp for air in their final stages of life is inevitable. Think the unregulated pharmaceutical industry, the bloated network of non-profits and non-governmental agencies, the Vatican, the American universities with their huge endowments funded by the foreign adversaries and the American taxpayer. That which operated behind the curtain of convenient concealment becomes the subject of national discussion as talkative Mercury merges with evasive Neptune in March 2025.

The challenge throughout March 2025 is to resist the temptation to jump at smoke and mirrors. Instead, keep digging for the facts, build your beliefs on solid foundations, and refuse to surrender the power of individual conscience. Don’t waste energies buying into the latest terrifying headline. Instead, conserve power for the coming opportunity to forge full steam ahead.
